My hubby and his brother (both 6'1") are holding this up and can't get it off of the grass.
Aly wanted the quilt to be just like the one I made for my daughter.
I designed it by request from my daughter and inspired by many quilts I saw on line.
Even with the tall quilt models, the quilt still hung ~18" on the ground.
Label #2 :)
I tried my hand at a radiating star fmq.
I quilted this bad boy on my little Pfaff sewing machine :) It wasn't nearly as hard as I was thinking it would be. I did have to take it over to our church to make the quilt sandwich, though. I taped the back to the basketball court floor ;D Thank heavens I had a place big enough!
WHOOP WHOOP my friend! It looks fantastic! Tell hubby and son to use steps, that did the tricks for us with my quilt :) Alyson will be thrilled, I love your fabrics!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kati :) I'm so happy its finished :D. Now I just have to find a BIG box!
DeleteWow it's awesome! Beautiful! Maybe someday you'll write up a pattern for it? : )
ReplyDeleteYes, I think I'll write up a tutorial just for you :)
DeleteWOW - that quilt is huge!! I think I need some tips from you - I get irritated fm quilting my small quilts. I have my machine set up next to my dining room table and another table on the side, but I still struggle with all the bulk. I'm sure your sister will treasure these quilts always. On a side note, is this the sister that had the friend dying from cancer - Anne - I think was her name. Is she still enjoying her quilt? Again, you amaze me by all that you get accomplished so quickly!
ReplyDeleteHi Jani-
DeleteYes, this is the same sister and thankfully Anne is still enjoying her quilt :)
OH MY GOODNESS!!!! This quilt was a beast, but not hard to manage, surprisingly :) I fmq on my sewingtable. My big tip is to make sure that your table is up against a wall in a corner. The top left corner of the table needs to be butted up into that corner. I also have this stack of bins that I have immediately to my left that butt up to me and the table to hold quilt weight. Its a pretty hoaky system but it works and saved me hundreds of $$$ in quilting :)
Thanks Marion - I'll do some table re-arranging and try that. It does make sense - anything to hold the weight of the quilt. I'm hoping to start quilting a new top this weekend. Now, just to keep my cats off of it! Quilts are cat magnets. When they see a quilt spread out, they think it's a great place to sleep! Thanks again for the great tip. I really enjoy reading your blog each day and see what new creation you're working on!
