MY Valentine Quilt is ALMOST finished :)

The back of MY Valentine Quilt

Minky is SO cute quilted!!

Close ups of the front.

My name... it's hard to see :)

The back of my name quilted
I started quilting this last night.  It didn't take as long as I thought it would.  I took several mental health breaks from the quilting.  By three o'clock today I had it trimmed and the binding all sewed on.  I can't wait to get the binding finished :) ....and start another quilt ;D  Well, actually, I am going to finish the Brown Quilt Blues Quilt first.  I may sent it out for quilting.  It is SO large!!!  We will see how I feel after I finish the back tomorrow.

Below is the Stitches & Sew Forth $29 quilt.  Each month they do a mystery quilt for just $29.  The BIG chunk of fabric at the bottom of my pile is matching Minky for the back of my quilt :)  It was $30.  The binding was also $4 extra.
Here is what it should look like when I am finished ;D

It folds up nice to tote around :)  It will even sit on my lap!

I bought this this morning at Creative Sewing in Provo after my quilting class. (See block below)  It has an ironing board on one side and a cutting board on the other :)  It's called The Omnigrid FoldAway Portable Cutting and Pressing StationsIt fits perfectly on the table next to my sewing machine.  I am SO happy!!!  The quilting class is pretty awesome!  You pay $5 the first time you come.  So long as you don't skip, are on time and bring your finished block, the next class and block fabric kit is free.  I'm pretty excited!!!

A little here, a little there...

The center strip for the back of the Brown Quilt Blues

I went rouge and totally remodeled the Sweet Baby Quilt.
Now it is going to be an awesome throw ;D

A sloppy lay out to get the colors right.
I used the Little Apples jelly roll for the borders.

My Pattern for The Brown Quilt Blues

Unfortunately, this is really how I do patterns :)  I figured out the exact size that I wanted the quilt to be if it were not "on point."  I cut out the paper to be that size with each square inch representing a finished 5" block.  Then I put the paper on the grid on my cutting mat and drew the squares "on point."  I needed less of the hst when it was on point, but I needed to add border rectangles.   I made the border rectangles longer so they would be easy to trim.  If you really want to do it, email me and we can talk through it :) xo

Borders Trimmed

It is currently 88x98.  I will be adding ~2" border of the the tan border fabric.  It will be bound with a dark blue plaid.  The back will be navy with a large vertical stripe of the front border fabric.  I will also run a vertical stripe of leftover hst's.  I'll work on that on Saturday.  I hope to have my quilt sandwich all done on Saturday.  David has Thursday and Friday off, so I'll be playing with him :)

A busy day...

First off, I vacuumed the whole house and scrubbed the really dirty bathroom!  Then I did this :)
Here is my box with all of my squares.
299 half square triangles and 48 border blocks.
24 rows.
Here are my neatly sewn rows :)
Here is the other side of my neatly sewn rows that is not so neat ;)
Laying out the rows to make sure
I am doing it right ;D

Starting to come together.

The tan stripped border will be trimmed straight.
