Over the Rainbow is done :)

I just have to say that I LOVE THIS QUILT!!! It's in the washer right now and then back into the closet to hide until Kate's birthday. I suppose that Kate could be watching my blog and see it, but I doubt it :)

  1. I just came over from Crazy Mom's finish friday. I was eyeing your finishes and saw this one. I love it! it's beautiful. can you tell me a few details? did you use a jelly roll? a pattern? Did you just add a white strip at the bottom of each color? Any particular order you lined up your colors? Can you tell I like it? thanks for sharing!

    1. Hi Maidenhair ;) ...love the name, by the way :)
Yes, this is a jelly roll of Tidbits and Treasures by Robert Kaufman. I used every last bit of it for this quilt. There may be a 1/2 in scrap, maybe ;) I used a few ideas that I saw on line. None matched up exactly, but with the combo, it worked out great. No real order except my daughter requested that it be in "real rainbow order." That did not work out as the jelly roll had what it had and I had to work with that. I did pair up the colors in the jelly roll to give it as "rainbow" a look as possible. There were a few neutral strips that just got tossed in here and there because that's just what had to happen ;) I basically sewed 4 full strips of the matching colors together with a smaller strip of white at one edge. I pressed really well and then cut them into squares :) Laying them out kind of made my brain explode because I wanted the white zigzag through it. I did not think I would like this quilt at all, but man, it may be my favorite ever. Please feel free to ask any more questions. I can measure the square size if that helps too ;) xo-M

  2. I absolutely love this quilt. Love the colors, love the look, love, love, love. It's just so happy and fresh! Kate and I are so similar... ;) Darrin and I have secretly adopted Jack's quilt for our "too lazy to crawl under my blankets" quilt. It's so soft and snuggly and nothing's better than watching tv on a Sunday afternoon curled up in that thing.

    1. I'm so glad you like it :) I tried to make you one just like it but mom said you wouldn't like the fabrics :( Oh well! so do you want your quilt to be the same pattern?? Or should I surprise you???? Check out my granny squares and see if you like that pattern. I am having a granny square thing these days :) ...or this week anyway!
