Quilt Retreat :)

Yesterday I got to attend my very first quilt retreat :)  April and Sue picked me up at 9:30 and we headed off to the American Ford Presbyterian church for two days of quilting organized by Ella of PinkPickleQuilts.

Maggie made one of these for all of us :)

Ella gave each of us one of these cute notebooks :)

Maggie made these darling pouches too. My cell fits into it perfectly!  Isn't Maggie sweet?

The fabulous April brought us these  SUPER cool gingham layer cakes!

I just have to say that I had the BEST time with these ladies!  Ella throws the GREATEST party ever!  We sewed, ate, sewed and ate!  I am not sure that quilting retreats are very good for my health ;)  Here are the things that I was able to accomplish...
#1 the binding on my Retro Flower quilt.  You can see the photo shoot HERE!
#2 I made the Zakka Zip Organizer out of the left over Retro Flower fabrics

There are so many prints here that it is hard to tell what is what.  On the left there are 3divided pockets for credit cards.  On the right there are three long pockets for my checkbook and cash, etc.  In the middle there is a pen holder tab.

My checkbook cover slides in perfectly :)

This zipper pocket is the size of the whole organizer.

I whined a lot while made this and Sue helped me make it through :)  It is so cute and I am LOVING it!  I stayed up making the organizer with Ella and Pamela until about 1:30am :)  PARTY all night long!  First thing the next day came #3...

#3 I made Maggie a mug rug as a thank you for all of her wonderful gifts!

Once this was under my belt, I started working on my Dad's quilt.

#4  I got 6 blocks finished, 3 more cut out with 11 to go!

One of our fun events was a field trip to a WONDERFUL fabric store in American Fork called the Quilting Cottage.  I bought the fabric for the Granny Square quilt block exchange next month.

I just had to buy this ant fabric by Michael Miller.  It is WAY TOO CUTE!!!

There were so many fun ladies there!  I sat next to Hannah who made her first quilt top while we were there.  She designed and cutout this whole thing.  Be prepared to be impressed!

The quilt attacking Ella and Hanna ;D

Hannah's SPECTACULAR owls!

Isn't this little fox cool?

We all told her that she has got a major future in applique design and needs to get these patterns up and ready for sale.  She is SO talented and I have to say, watching her sketch her idea and then make it into fabric was AWESOME!!!

Sue and April dropped me off at my house a little after 10pm Saturday night.  Again, I had a GREAT time and can't wait to do this again!!

  1. Holy smokes, Marion! I think that when we were all in line in heaven, receiving the things we'd need for earth life, I think you were given twelve or more extra hours per day. You get so much done! You're amazing!

That retreat sounds like it was wonderful!
