If you are here for the GIVEAWAY, keep on going... it's after the pretty pictures ;)
Anyway.... I am very happy that this quilt is finished. I knew that my list this week would not get completed, and that is ok. It's been a REALLY busy week. Next week will be busy too :p and seriously, I couldn't have two weeks in a row with my list all the way finished! That would be SUPER bad luck ;D
I did half of the quilting on Friday and finished the rest today. I did the binding scrappy and ended up machine sewing the binding on. It turned out great :)
The back is medium blue minky for extra snuggliness :)
There are a 4 prints that repeat and the rest are all one of a kind... in this quilt anyway :)
Julie will be coming by my house tomorrow to pick up this quilt and 21 more that have been brought to my home this week along with 2 BEAUTIFUL quilt tops :) This quilt is for Operation Wood Hollow over at havingfunquilting.blogspot.com
Now that we have enjoyed the eye candy, here is what is up for grabs in my first ever GIVEAWAY!!! In honor of the SLC Modern Quilt Guild's Dresden Quilting Challenge I'll be giving away an EZ Dresden Ruler :)
All you need to do win this GREAT tool is to become a follower of my blog AND leave a comment telling me you are a follower and your favorite quilting tool :) I'd have to say that my little Pfaff sewing machine is my BFF ;) What's yours?
Here are a few things I have made with my little EZ Dresden ruler...
I really LOVE the Dresden plate and the EZ Dresden Ruler makes making them extremely simple. Entries for the drawing will close 10pm on July 5th.
I am going to be linking this up with Elizabeth and SHOW OFF FRIDAY over at a Pieceful Life :), TGIFF and Sarah over at The Fabric Addict for CAN I GET A WHOOP WHOOP???

ReplyDeleteHave been following your blog for a couple of months now, love looking at all the thing you get finished. As a beginner, my favorite tool is my seam ripper!
ReplyDeleteGreat post. Love your pinwheels & dresden plate projects. Inspirational. I've been wanting to create with this ruler and you certainly have inspired me to do so. Thank you!

I really like the Dresden quilts you have been making. I have been thinking of making one too with all my scrap fabrics. My new favorite quilting tool is my binding clips. I don't have to pin my binding on any more when I attach it to my quilts. My fingers are very happy. Hey who know maybe my new favorite tool will be a Dresden ruler!

That quilt turned out fabulously! I love the look of it. Nice job getting it done in the middle of so much busyness. And Happy 200th post!
ReplyDeleteI've been following your post for several months now. I have 16 wips in various stages. Yikes - can't believe I admitted that! I've been inspired by your ability to get so much sewing, quilting and blogging done while being a full time wife & mother. I work full time, have no kids or husband, and I still can't crank them out like you do! My bff is my Kenmore sewing machine and quilting foot! I've been wanting to make a dresden quilt, and this ruler would be just the motivation I need. If I get 2 wips knocked off today, I'd be ready to add another to the list. Congrats on your 200th post & collecting quilts for those folks that have lost their homes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pinwheels, Marion! Whoop whoop!
ReplyDeleteHI,I have been a follower for quite a while. I love your blog! I would have to say that my favorite tool is my sewing machine also, its an older "Dressmaker" that I inherited from a neighbor that moved away, its an awesome machine, never lets me down!! Thanks for the giveaway...also your quilt is beautiful!!

Love the pinwheels! I stare at one on my daughter's quilt in the half light when I put her to bed every night. They're kind of hypnotic LOL I found you through TGIFF but would love to enter your giveaway if you're doing international post (I've been building up the courage to try a dresden plate) :) I'm following you in google reader :)
ReplyDeleteI am following your blog. I really like the rotary cutter.
ReplyDeleteI'm following your blog for a few months now and it's a big inspiration for me. I would say that I don't have a favorite tool because I like to explore all the many different options in quilting. Btw, what's the secret to making such amazing pinwheels?
ReplyDeleteWould love to add the dresden ruler to my stash! Really like the table runners you made from them!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I have always wanted a dresden ruler! My favorite tool is my cutting mat.
ReplyDeleteJust found you through Fresh Sewing Day and became a follower! Love this quilt, pinwheels have always been a favorite of mine. My favorite tool is probably my rotary cutter...can't imagine quilting without it.
ReplyDeleteAmanda
I'm a follower of your blog and I'm just loving this quilt, it's fab. My favourite quilting tool (discounting the obvious Bernina sewing machine, rotary cutter and mat) is my June Tailor Shape Cut Plus - I wouldn't be without it for quick and easy fabric cutting :)
ReplyDeleteThe pinwheel quilt is lovely: the colors work so well, and the quilting and binding looks great.
ReplyDeleteI already have a Dresden ruler, but I hope someone else has a lot of fun with the one you're so generously giving away!
I am a follower through GFC. My favorite tool is my Bloc Loc (for HSTs). I also love my Pfaff :) I have the Expression 2.0. It really does the trick. And, great FMQ too! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love that quilt - it looks great. I already have the ruler so I'm not entering the giveaway but I just wanted to comment on the lovely quilt.
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt! The pinwheels just look so summery, just makes you want to snuggle!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great quilt! Pinwheels are my favorite! I love the colors you used and minkey on the back is always a winner! Congrats on such a great finish!
ReplyDeleteLove your Dresdens too, especially that purple one on the messenger bag . . . Sigh. I might need to start a new project. I am following, but don't count me in for the drawing, though, b/c I've got Dresden tools already. But what a great giveaway!

Pretty pinwheel; so classic. Dresdens are nearly as versatile, aren't they? Enjoyed seeing what you have made :)
ReplyDeleteLove that pinwheel quilt. That block and it's variations are some of my favorites. I would love to have the dresden tool. Thank you for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog and would love to win an EZ-Dresden tool. After seeing all the modern variations from the guild hop, I would like to try my hand (and budget is non-existent). Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tool has to be my seam ripper with a longer wood turned handle that was a gift from my late father.
DeleteI am a new follower - happy to have found your blog! My favorite tool is also my Pfaff -- have been sewing with them -- very happily! -- since about 1977, first with commercial machines that were very fast, and now with a "home" machine, a 1273 which I dearly love! Aren't we both lucky?
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful quilt, and I'm si glad you chose to link up with Quilting For Good Tuesday's! Hope to see you back next week!
ReplyDeleteLove all those pinwheels!
ReplyDeleteI'm already a follower.
My favorite quilting tool is my Necchi BU from the late 1940's in a treadle base--I do more and more of my quiltmaking on this wonderful vintage machine. (My second favorite is my rotary cutter--it has revolutionized the world of quiltmaking and energized the creativity of millions!)
My favorite quilting tool has to be my new Husquevarna "Emerald" my Sweeeet Husband got me when my other one died!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower! Love your Blog!
Thanks for chance to win a new cooool tool! :)
I think I figured out to follow you :) YAY!! I have been visiting your blog for a short while, I am a newbie quilter so at this point besides my machine ... I love my Q-tools "Sewing Edge" ... I have a 1/4" foot, but a scant 1/4" seems to work better for me. Thank you for the great giveaway ... I have been wanting to try a Dresden.
ReplyDeleteHi Marion - I'm a follower of your blog - you've made some great projects that I've enjoyed seeing and reading about! My favorite tool is probably my Clover seam ripper - it's always sharp and the point is very pointy and thin so it's easy to get under the stitches. Fortunately, I don't have to use it REALLY often, but it's a great thing to have when I do. Last time I made a Dresden Plate block, I tried drafting my own pattern - it would be SO much easier with a template! LOL
