Being sick this past week really cramped my quilting mojo :p I am SOOOOO happy that Konda asked if she could quilt Anna's wedding quilt for her wedding gift. I would have NEVER gotten it finished, being sick, AND Konda is such an AMAZING la quilter :)
(Long story short, I had a few other quilting friends offer to quilt it for me :) Aren't I a lucky gal?)
***NEWS FLASH!! Today is the one year anniversary of me learning how to quilt!!! One year ago today I decided to start quilting :) You can read about my quilting adventure HERE. This quilt is my 58th finished quilt since I started :) You can see my finished quilts in the tabs above :) ****
We now resume our regularly scheduled programming :)
Konda picked up the quilt Tuesday and dropped it off to me Thursday morning :)
I was feeling well enough Thursday, so I hurried and made the binding and got it sewn on.
Then I curled up in bed with season 2 of Downton Abby and bound and bound and bound!!!
I even made a label :)
This quilt is a whopper, measuring in at 89.5" x 98.5"
With the help of Annette, I designed a border of HST's for two sides of the quilt. Konda did the math, and two more rows of hst's on the two sides would make the quilt the right size to fit on a king size bed.
The pattern is by Konda (over at Moose On The Porch Quilts).
It's called Charming Old Maid
You can find the pattern HERE in the Simply Charming Collection
I wanted to use a different hst technique than Konda used in her original pattern, so Konda redid the math to make my technique work ;D Anna's wedding quilt is not made with charm squares. We used different sized squares and that combined with the different hst technique, made this quilt unique-ish ;)
There wasn't enough of the AWESOME bird fabric, so I had to piece the back with this cool Joel Dewberry print.
It actually forms an "L" on the back... for "love" ;)
I am giving this to my daughter at her bridal shower tomorrow. I hope she loves it as much as I do!!
xo
