Today ended up being a REALLY busy day. I had to get all of the documents and forms ready to get passports for me and hubby and a learners permit for my daughter. Birth certificates, social security cards, forms and more forms, proof of residence... not to mention the moo-lah for everything :) I never did locate my husbands birth certificate, so luckily his old passport worked :) AND, I had to bring my 3 little boys with me all over the place to get all of the forms filed :) Oh the joy! I finally bribed them with ice cream cones to make it through the last 40 minutes at the DMV :)
I had a bazillion other things to do when we finally got home, but I still got a good chunk of the quilt for my sister Aly's friend done.
I bought a yard and a half of orange minky for the back at Aly's request. I cut a piece of Kona white to fit nicely in the center of the minky. Next I sewed on a 6" border from the scraps from my Retro Flower quilt. Finally I laid out my quilt sandwich and then arranged the "T" shaped scraps on the white and glued them down.
Here it is all ready to be basted. I used a Elmer's School washable glue stick to attach the fabric to the white top. It's the purple glue.
I was able to get a little more than half of it quilted :) I am doing a raw edge applique as I quilt the top.
My bobbin tension was acting REALLY weird, so I walked away and watched a movie with the family :)
Hopefully my sewing machine will chill out over night so I can get it finished tomorrow :)
It's Aly's hope that her friend with end stage breast cancer will use this quilt when she goes in for her chemo treatments.
