I know what I'm going to do today...

** a sneak peak of what's going on today.... yes, one is finished... now you may continue to read :)

For Easter I have come up with the BONKERS idea to make bags for my kids for their Easter baskets.  Here is what I am going to try today.  I'll start with the boys first.  It seems easy enough.....  ;D
This one will be made for my youngest daughter

Cherry Cherry Picnic, New Guild & March's $29 Quilt

Another busy day :)  I was able to attend the first meeting ever of the new quilt guild here in our very own Payson.  We decided on a name, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was!  Met all kinds of WOndERFUL ladies and learned about a few different quilt retreats and sewing expo's.  I am SO excited!  I am going to be making our blog, so I'll get on that in the morning.  I have lots of GREAT pictures.  We will be meeting the last Tuesday of each month at Peteetneet from 10am to 2pm.

As for my quilting, I finished the top for the February $29 Quilt from Morganson's Stitches & Sew Forth.  Rebecca Morganson designs these wonderful quilts.  I suppose I am not all the way finished, I still need to put on the applique bows in the corners and trim the scallop edges.  I need to get the backing too.  I am thinking yellow minky.  I'll decide tomorrow.  Tomorrow, I need to put a serious dent into the kids easter bags.  I am linking up this top with:

And since I mentioned the MOrganson's $29 quilt, here is the March $29 quilt.  I'll get this one cut really soon.  I think I am going to send it to my nephew in Seatle for his 8th birthday.  It might be too young for him, but it's SO DANG CUTE!

A Busy Day...

Today was my son's birthday.  He got a reading lamp for his bed and his AWESOME quilt :)

See how cute he is all wrapped up in it. The weather even cooperated and was cold enough to need a blankie!
For my sewing antics, I started on the messenger bag for one of my daughters.  She wants a messenger bag with a dresden plate on the front of the flap.  I took pictures of what I did :)
This is the AWESOME ruler that I use.
Here are the blades all cut and wanting to be sewn...
Them in a pile ;D
chain sewing the tops together
look, they make a pretty wheel.
Cool wheel, eh?
These are the tweezers that I use to get the blades turned and nice and pointy.
After turning and pressing.
Laying around wanting to be joined in a neat ring!
Sewing them up :)
These are quiltsmart circles.  I LOVE them!  Easy peasy!
After all of my blades are sewn together, I coax all of the threads toward the center then I lay a circle of wonder under on the back and press. ...but not the hole.... I avoid pressing the center until the center circle is on the front....
Now I press my center circle, then press the center back...  Is that as clear as mud?
Dessert time!  This is a rainbow chip cake with split layers that are filled with Marionberries.  The frosting is chocolate cream cheese frosting.  My 6 year old wanted the peeps :) My 17 year old decorated it :)

Just FYI, these are my first flying geese EVER!  I love them.  they are SO cute!!!
I also cut out the top for the February $29 quilt.  I am going to sew that bad boy tomorrow!

Sewing Area Upgrade

After my husbands grandmother passed away, we purchased her home.  While were were cleaning out under the stairs in the basement...scary.... we found this table.  The legs fold down so it lies flat.  It has a "tape measure" stained into it.  I had forgotten about it until just last week.  It is PERFECT for my pressing and cutting board.  I love it.
On an entirely unrelated, yet related subject, yesterday, I got to go out of town with my friend for her birthday.  Her husband booked us a hotel in Park City, Utah :)  We left early Friday and shopped ALL day and didn't get home until Saturday evening...after shopping ALL day :)  I spent WAY too much money and WAY too much fun!  We had a great time at the outlet malls and World Market (Cost Plus) in Park City.  On the way home we stopped at Ikea.  I dropped a LOAD at World Market and Ikea.  At Ikea, I found shelves, storage boxes, a flat sheet, fabric for my boys Easter messenger bags, coat hooks, a clip on reading lamp and an AWESOME magnetic strip.  I took a few pictures of my sewing area upgrades :D I installed everything myself ;)  My hubby is super handy, but with only one leg, drilling and screwing can be tricky :)

My usual arrangement
Shelf #1
The AWESOME magnetic strip.  It is SUPER strong!

Shelf #2

3 full, one waiting :)  Books in one, patters in another and rulers/templates in the last.
I am SO excited, I finished up making the selves all by myself :)  It feels really great!  I am linking this AWESOME finish to:
