Valentine Heart Quilt Tutorial

Are you looking for a fast and fun Valentine's Day quilt?  I made this darling quilt for my niece a few years back

A Reading Rainbow

The year 2016 was a great year for reading for me.  I read or listened to 167 books 😱

A friend of mine (she is also a quilter and avid reader) suggested that I make a bookshelf quilt to commemorate my accomplishment.

Of course I did just that!! πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

Cutting Mat & Ruler Tote

While sitting around, enjoying the boring lazy days during the holidays, I decided I needed to make myself a tote for my large mats and rulers to haul them all to sew days.

It's not perfect, and I'm not sure how it will work in real life, but I sure love how it looks 😘😘

It is kink of floppy and awkward.  I'm thinking it needs ties or snaps or something. Any thoughts??

Sunday Book Review

#SundayBookReview (except on a Monday 😱)

#Homegoing by #YaaGyasi. Very good. The story follows two African girls, one who is sold into slavery and one who stays in Africa. The book follows their descendants across the  centuries to modern day. 🐸🐸🐸🐸

#TheSoldiersWife by #MargaretLeroy. The story of a family living on Guernsey Island during WWII. Loved it! 🐸🐸🐸🐸

#TheAbsolutlyTrueDiaryOfAPartTimeIndian by #ShermanAlexie.  Very good. I laughed out loud. I cried. 🐸🐸🐸🐸

#Delerium by #LaurenOliver. This is a YA series about a future where love is a disease that has been eradicated. 🐸🐸🐸 πŸ›

Eternal EPP

Many years ago, never mind how many, I started this grandmothers flower garden.

Like I do every year, I have vowed to get it finished this year (πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚)

These are the flowers I have completed. I am nearly half way πŸ€“

If I can keep making two flowers an evening, I will complete all of my flowers (nearly) exactly four years from the day I started the project πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Wish me luck!!

Sunday Book Review

Good stuff this week for my #SundayBookReview.

 πŸ“•

πŸ“˜

πŸ“—

First up are two stories by #JodiPicoult. First is a short story called #WhereTheresSmoke. I REALLY wish this was a whole book!  I am hooked and want the fleshed out tale!!! 🐸🐸🐸🐸

πŸ“š

The second of Picoult's that I read was a novella called #LargerThanLife. I loved this one as well. 🐘🐘🐘🐘 (read it and you'll know why it got 4 elephants instead of four frogs 😘)

πŸ“š

#PeaceLikeARiver by #LeifEnger. Oh, I really loved this book. 🐸🐸🐸🐸

πŸ“š

#SecretsOfACharmedLife by #SusanMeissner. I am constantly surprised at how WWII historical fiction can vary so widely on topic. I really enjoyed this book. It was told from the perspective of two girls sent to live in the country of England during WWII. Good book! 🐸🐸🐸🐸

πŸ“šπŸ“™πŸ“˜πŸ“—πŸ“•

(You may be wondering what the frogs are. They are my rating system. Five means I loved it so much and it changed my life. Four is very good. Three is I liked it.  Sometimes I add a caterpillar for a half frog. 😘😘)

πŸ“™πŸ“˜πŸ“—πŸ“•πŸ“™πŸ“˜πŸ“—πŸ“•

So, what are you reading this week??

Solid Improv Quilt

One of my 2016 goals was to bust out my solids scraps and make something. I debated about what to make and decided a few weeks ago that I should go for an improv quilt πŸ€“

Here is my progress so far 😘

I am having so much more fun with this project than I thought I would. So therapeutic!

This beautiful quilt was made by Jessica Bloomburg aka @craftycop.

This is also her THIRD moda building blocks quilt!!!

I had so much fun quilting this!!

I had a really hard time sending it back to her!!
