Christmas Fabric Yummies!

For Christmas, my mom made weekender bags for all of her daughters and daughter in laws.

Since I already had MY OWN, she had to come up with something special for me :)

I think she did a mighty fine job!

There are three fat quarters and six half yard cuts.

I think these are going to get turned into a wedding quilt for my daughter who is getting married in April.

Did I mention that my oldest daughter got engaged the Saturday before Christmas????

My nine year old was the photographer :)

Calling family to share the good news.

Mike proposed at Salem Pond with all of the beautiful Christmas light twinkling in the back ground.

They have been dating since they were 16.

Yes, I am too young to have married children! ;)

They are both turning 21 in the next few weeks and I [think I] will be turning 44 the week after the wedding.  The very worst/strangest part is that there is the possibility that I could be a grandma next Christmas!

Maybe I should give them a 3 year supply of birth control for a wedding present ;D

Red & White Pinwheel FINISHED :)

Preview...

But wait, I have a few things to share before we get to the quilt :)  First off, I have to show you my UPS delivery :)

I got the front package on Monday from the Fat Quarter Shop and the one in the back came this afternoon.  I am all ready for the Super Mario QAL over at Cut To Pieces.

Man, this quilt is going to be AWESOME, but I have to be honest, I am a bit worried about the 1.5" squares.... ;D ...and I am choking on the fabric price... but I'll get over it.  My hubby does not care too much about the $$$ because it's for him :)  You see, I have to be tricky.

In addition to this little bit of fun fabric, my sister, Aly, and I hammered out the details for three quilts I will be making for her.  The first one will be for the wall in her living room made with Granny Squares in this fabric...
...and white.

The second quilt is for her bedroom.  It will be almost exactly like Kate's Over the Rainbow quilt.  We ordered 3 jelly rolls of Robert Kaufman's Tidbits and Treasures.

The third quilt is for her friend who has end stage breast cancer :(  I am going to do a raw edge applique with the scraps from my Retro Flower Quilt.

So that is all for my shopping exploits for today.  It's a good thing that Aly was paying today :D

Now, for the unveiling of the Red & White Pinwheel Quilt :)  Are you ready?

I did straight line quilting with my walking foot.  The pinwheel on the back measures 22" square.

I pieced the back to make the fabric I had work :)  Can you say "Frugal?" ... I mean CHEAP! ;D

I did the binding mostly with the red and white stripe, but then used the left over 2.5" strips from my mom's Red & White log cabin pillow from yesterday.

So, I couldn't help adding the bunnies for a bit of the photo shoot.  Isn't Baby Bunny cute?

Fatty had to get a shot in too :)

The finished quilt measures 59"x48"

The following pictures are close up's of the blocks.  WARNING!!! ...there are a million! ...as usual :)

This is my favorite section of the quilt :)

Pinwheel Progress

I just have to make my red and white pinwheel quilt :)  Unfortunately, I ran out of Kona white, so I was only able to make about half of the blocks that I will need for this quilt :(
Tomorrow I am taking my kiddo's to my nieces birthday party and after that, my sister and I are taking a field trip to Hobby Lobby for the rest of her quilts supplies :) ....and more Kona white for me :)
Here is what I did Monday evening.
A cute pile of half square triangles :)
A cute pile of blocks :)
Here are the blocks that I did this evening.
Oh, and look what came in the mail Monday :)  My fat quarter bundle for my Mario Brothers quilt.  I was super silly and was thinking that the bundle had ALL of the fabric for the quilt top in it...NOPE... just the fat quarters required for the top.  I had to go back and order the rest of the fabric ($$$$) to make the top.  Oh well, I really should have thought it through a bit better and saved myself a second shipping charge :p

May the 4th Be With You!

Today we went shopping :)  It was my hubbies first time shopping at Gracie Lou's in Salem.  I think he might have been impressed :)  My SIL gave me a gift certificate for there so I needed to spend it naturally.
Here is what I bought officially from her-

I had to take multiple photos because it is SO cute!  I have had my eyed on this for a while now.  It is just so pricey that I have stayed away.    I am SO excited to do something with it :)
I also hit the sale stack at Gracie Lou's and bought the backing for my Retro Flower quilt-

Again, too many pics :)  It has the pinks in it and the grey to tie it all together :)
I also bought more of this print that I keep finding uses for :)  At 40% off, why not?
..so I didn't take a picture, but it is the Central Park line, the piece that looks like sea weed to me ;)
And one more cut of fabric was purchased today at Walmart.  I was looking for a pattern and my 6 year old just HAD to have this fabric.  Who am I to deny the fabric lover in my son?

Yes, he has a planet thing.  I of course had to make something to honor Star Wars day :)  ... you know, May the 4th be with you?  It's may the force be with you with a lisp ;)  Here is what I made for the boys :0
....my 17 year old wants one too :)

Pillow cases, of course!  The boys love them and hopefully this will get my 6 year old off my back about his birthday quilt that he is not getting until DECEMBER ;D  It's probably wishful thinking, but I can dream cant I?
Have a GREAT Friday!  I am off to run errands with the chillins so tomorrow is free to sew my hubbies birthday quilt tomorrow! xoxo

Shopping Saturday :D

My mom took me shopping for my birthday :)  She wanted to go clothes shopping, but I lured her to Broadbent's for FABRIC FUN!! :)  Here is what she bought me :)
I am SO excited!!!  I have been wanting to get these WONDERFUL Riley Blake Chevrons ever since I have seen them floating around blogland!  I don't know what I am going to do, but I'm sure I'll work it out ;D
Here is what my mom bought for a quilt for my sister...
Here is what I bought to add to the quilt for my dad...
It was great to spend the day with my mom.  After we were finished at Broadbents, we headed up to my parents for a nice afternoon together.  It was fun :)  I left all of the kiddos at home, so it was just me!
I did get a little knitting done today and a bit of pinning.
I'm going to sleep now.  I'm so tired!
