The Relay For Life Quilt is FINISHED :D

I am super excited today :)  I ran over half of my miles this morning :)  It was a year ago, the last time I was running regularly.  The last run was at the Utah Valley 1/2 Marathon with my two sister in laws.  I had to pull out at mile 9 with severe ITBS :p  I also ended up with a stress fracture in my right foot :ppppp  I couldn't do any activity for nearly 2 months.  This half marathon was supposed to be my debut run after being hit by a car the previous October (2010).  I was pretty devastated.  I cried a lot.  By the time I could get out and move again, I was pretty much too down on myself to get myself going again.  Anyway, fast forward to now, I am back in physical therapy and working on the running thing and the weight loss thing.  Not being able to run has wreaked havoc on my weight management.  So, long story short, I am happy to be running and losing weight again :)  Now for the quilt stuff...
After lunch today, I pieced the back for the quilt, basted it, quilted it and then hand stitched the binding on :)  (this process was interrupted several times with dinner, a birthday party and a few other things)  The photo shoot was kinda funny because the sun was setting and my boys can't hold still :D

The boy's weren't much help, so I tried the mail box :)   It seems to hold a bit more still!

Lastly, I decided to take a few inside of the house for good measure :)

I did an all over stipple quilting.  My eyes are closing as I type.  I think I am pooped out!  I'm hoping to get Ashley's All Fenced in basted and quilted tomorrow.  She is away camping with our church until Friday at noon.  It will probably be my last chance to quilt it before her birthday in early July.

Wonky Log Cabin Table Topper

It's done, it's done, it's done!  There were some times when I hated it... it's a color thing... but now I really like it.  I'm hoping the friend I made it for likes it too.  These are her favorite colors.  I have one more table runner to make tomorrow for a bridal shower on Saturday.  I got the binding all sewn on Reagan's quilt.  I'll finish that off tonight while I watch the last two episodes of season 2 of 24.

WIP Wednesday

I am just new at this, so it may take me until next week to have this down ;)
Today, along with getting the binding started on Reagan's quilt, I am making a table topper for my friends birthday tomorrow.  Her table is square and she likes red and navy so I am making a LARGE wonky log cabin block.  The colors are much more mute than they look in these pics.  None of the fabrics are close to primary colors.

I just had to post this picture.  The zig zag quilt looked so pretty after I washed it and the sun shown on it :)

Table Runner #2

I got home from my friends birthday party last night and just had to make me one too.  I didn't have anymore of the yellow fabric so I decided to cut into my Little Apples stash.  It was a bit scary, but I am SO happy with how it turned out.  I wasn't sure what to do for the binding but after much deliberation and an opinion here and there from the peanut gallery, I decided on this Half Moon Aqua Medallions print.  I fussy cut at bit here and there.  The boys love the little hedgehog, turtle and squirrel in the center of the blocks.
I still have a ton of Little Apples left.  I think I need another bag :)

 

 

 

 

 

 

Heat Resistant Table Runner

It's my bff's birthday today and I just had to make her something special.  I thought the heat resistant table runner that I saw last week HERE at (adayinthelifeofamissionarywife.blogspot.com) would be PERFECT!  I spent an hour locating the yellow border fabric.  I knew it was somewhere, but where?  I just have to say that I LOVE THIS TABLE RUNNER!  It's so cute!  Since it was for my friend, I had to take it over to another friend to show :)  I used the heat resistant batting from Walmart.  I am going to make one for myself TOMORROW!!  I've got a few leftover Little Apples jelly roll that will work PERFECTLY!! :)  My son wanted to know what it spelled out in the blocks. I hadn't realized how much they look like letters :)
