SLMQG Pillow Swap

In June the Salt Lake Modern Quilt Guild had a 20" pillow swap.  I couldn't make it that night, but last night there was a "make up" swap.

I had a mini charm pack of Coma and cracked it open to see what I could come up with.

A granny square formed itself on my floor ;)

I added in some extra green and orange and black to get my square to 22".
(Can you guess what the exterior text fabric is?)

For the quilting I did an orange peel fmq.

Ta da!!!  A cute sofa pillow :)

For the back I used Half Moon in black.

Here it is being all cute on the guest bed.

The sad news is that no one else brought a finished pillow to swap :(

I brought my pillow home to wait for next month :)

...or maybe, I'll just keep it!

Delicious Wishes Table Runner

First off, let me wish all y'all mothers out there, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

:-)

For my birthday I received two generous gift certificates for Gracie Lou's in Salem, Utah.

One of my purchases was a fat quarter bundle of Delicious Wishes by Jane Nielson.

I decided to bust into it to make my mother in law a table runner for Mother's Day.

I had so much fun taking pictures, that I posted WAY too many, as usual ;D

Some days the sun and the trees are just too pretty :)

I decided on a swirly fmq to go along with the candy like theme of the fabric.

Each granny square is different.

I really want one for myself :)

Now to decide what to make for my mom.

I hope that they fix me a yummy breakfast tomorrow!

It is also my hubby's birthday Sunday too.  We decided that Mother's day trumps his birthday because we can celebrate his birthday all week long!

Sweet Marmalade Baby Blankie

SWEET Konda gave me 2 mini charm packs of Marmalade :)  I stared at them for a while and then decided to make granny squares out of them.  The two mini charm packs make exactly 7 granny squares if you use the border fabric for the centers :)

Originally I was going to make them into table runners, but then I realized that they would make the most AMAZING baby blanket.

I fooled around with the layout and decided I needed to beg Konda for another mini charm pack.  She graciously dropped another over :)  KONDA ROCKS!!!

So, Wednesday afternoon I got busy and made the CUTEST BABY BLANKET EVER!!! ;D

My 15 year old daughter laid the quilt out for me.
Didn't she do a GREAT job?

I learned how to make the monogram letter at the Utah County Modern Quilt meeting this month.  Thanks, Anna!!

One of my kids asked what the "M" was for.  I told them it was for "Marion" ;)  (The baby's name that it is for is McKayla)  My kids just looked at me like I was NUTS!!

I used pink minky for the backing with AWESOME vintage black gingham :)

I did swirly fmq.  It only took me about 30 minutes to quilt :)  Whoo Hoo!!!

The quilt measures 39" x 39".  I will deliver it asap :)

I will post a tutorial HERE next Tuesday(11/27/12) on how to make a patchwork monogram :)

Linking up with Amanda Jean over at Crazy Mom Quilts :)

...AND Topped!!!

Yep, you read correctly, I finished ONE MORE TOP!!

(That makes THREE, in case you weren't counting)

I am super happy :D

I was able to get my son's birthday quilt top finished Friday evening!!!!  Going Coastal and Shore Thing are the fabrics of choice in this super fun quilt top :)  GO Emily!!!

This quilt was inspired by a quilt called "Reflections" by Sharon of Fabrics n' Flowers.  I saw a link to her quilt on the 100 Day Hustle linky party.  You may buy the pattern HERE from Sharon :)

I had actually designed and started making the quilt before I realized that this quilt was a pattern that Sharon sold :(   I suppose that I should actually READ blog posts instead of just looking at the pretty pictures ;)

The blue lobsters with the orange background are my favorite!!! (can you find it?)
My son's favorite print is the sail boats below :)

I don't think that my measurements are the same as Sharon's original  because she makes reference to it being a charm square quilt and my interpretation uses much larger blocks that get sashed and chopped ;D
My chopped print is larger than 5".

A pretty stack of BIG blocks.

A cute sail boat chopped block :)

Now for the second thing I crammed in...

Konda gave me 2 mini charm packs of Marmalade.  I turned them into the CUTEST granny squares I have EVER seen :)

I am currently in negotiations with Konda to get my hands on one more mini charm pack so I can make these into the CUTEST baby blanket EVER!!!

Konda says I can have one or two more, but I have to be nice to her.... hmmmm, I wonder if I can swing that? ;D

You know I can, Baby!!!

Mug Rugs for Christmas

In the spirit of my in-law's I made their Christmas presents Monday and will be sending them home with them next week :)

I used the two left over blocks from Aly's quilt :)

They brought our Christmas presents with them all wrapped and ready to go :)  I am pretty sure they are special gifts from Germany :D

I figured it would save me postage to get these ready to go home with them asap :)  Now I just need to wrap them up!

Aly's Living Room Quilt is FINIsHED :)

This quilt is for my sisters living room wall.

I am so happy to have this finished :)

I quilted it with a wavy swirl fmq.

Here is a picture of my first quilt label.  I am going to have to go back and make labels for all of my quilts now :)

I'll be shipping it off to Seattle in a few days here :)

Both of Aly's quilts are finished ....well almost, I have just a bit more binding to do on her bedroom quilt. I'll finish it up while I watch LDS General Conference :)

Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday

I suppose that I should be all recovered from last weekends festivities, but I am still POOPED out :)  I did get a ton of work finished today, including a load of laundry despite my lethargy.  I TOTALLY broke one of my own rules and didn't get dressed until I had to take my son to the orthodontist at 3:50 pm.  OH WELL :p

Piles just staring at me.  SEW ME!!!

Nope, I am on a Granny Square bender today!

Four sets of 8 Granny Squares using I'mAGingerMonkey's tutorial.

Trimming up the squares.

Laying out the squares.

They are all labeled and in piles ready to be sewn up with the sashing.

I have been doing sewing for so many others that I had to pull out my Flea Market Fancy just to gaze at it lovingly.  My daughter was looking on, thinking I am TOTALLY insane ;D

I can't wait to decided what to do with this and cut it all to pieces!!!

Maybe this should be used for my bed???
