Baby Hadley Update

My sister came over this week with her darling children.

Of course, Hadley was the main attraction with my kids.

Kate and Hadley played airplane ride.

Will just held her :)

Remember that Hadley was born 8 weeks early...

She's just 11 pounds now at 5 months old.

We are all so happy with how healthy she is :)

Mac soon busted in on the action ;)

Her skin is so soft, the boys just pet her like they do their bunny ;D

...and yes, my boys dress themselves!

Presents For Hadley

*** If you are looking for Operation Sunshine click HERE :)  Thank you!!!***

My sweet baby niece is finally home from the hospital :)

She is healthy and SO DARN CUTE!!!

Being the good auntie that I am, I had to make her some "Welcome Home" gifts :)

A receiving blanket with a crocheted edge.

My grandmother used to make these for each new baby, and so now I try to do it.
I am named after her, so it only makes sense ;)

"This blanket will NOT make me go to sleep!"

"Zzzzzzzzzzzzz"
(My blankets and swaddling are MAGIC!)

AND, to go with this cute little blankie, I had to make these AWESOME booties.

"OK, the booties ROCK, but the clothes are HORRIFIC!!!"

"I am SERIOUS!!!  Please don't make me dress like a color blind Scott!"

(The booties fit perfectly :)

So where did the booty idea come from?
Well, April made some booties for her granddaughter, and they turned out SO cool, I had to copy cat her :)

I took a BAZILLION pictures because I LOVE them and want some for myself!

My kids all want some now too ;)

The pattern is Crocodile Stitch Booties by Lianka Azulay of Bonita Patterns and you can purchase the pattern HERE on Etsy.

I am pattern reading disabled and I had no problem making these :) ...well, no more than is usual for me ;)

The first booty only took me 6 hours to make and the second just a mere hour and a half ;)

One of these days I'll figure out how to understand patterns.

This is the 0-6 mo. size.  I used extra fine sock yarn from the clearance section at Hobby Lobby.

The end!

PS- for those of you who hung on to the end of the post....

"Being burped makes for such an awkward photo!  But don't I have such pretty big eyes, not to mention my pinchable cheeks?"

Daughter's Wedding... Sister's Baby.... not so much sewing :(

A midst all of the excitement, I haven't had my much needed "me time" sewing :(  I suppose that is ok ;D

I woke up EARLY Wednesday morning and sneaked in some sewing on my #scrappytripalong quilt :)

Here is where I stand with the quilt:
One block left to be sewn into a tube :)

12 blocks sewn into tubes and needing to be cut, clipped and arranged :)

15 blocks all picked and arranged waiting to be sewn up :D

I seriously cannot wait to get this quilt finished!!!

So why the "no-sew" zone around here?

Wedding: engagement photo shoot, order invites, address invites, design and order guest sign in book, etc!

Aren't they cute?

AND on top of all of the wedding excitement.... my sweet sister's baby arrived EARLY this week!

I spent Wednesday at the hospital with my sister.  Baby Hadley is doing GREAT but my sister is not :(  She had a REALLY terrible day yesterday and hopefully things will improve soon.  Her uterus is still so large that it is crushing her kidneys and causing excruciating pain :(   So, I spent the whole day with her yesterday running tests until her hubby could get there.  We didn't get to spend much time with baby boo :(

Today is "sewing Anna's wedding quilt" day!!!  ....mail the invites day.... and I think that is it!

Last night we also met with Annette (my AWESOME quilting sewing friend Annette) to arrange for the alterations for the wedding dress :)

RUSH RUSH RUSH!!!

It's 5:42 am and I need to get in the shower and CLEAN the house before my sewing bff's show up.  Being gone for a whole day makes the house something to be reckoned with! :p

Hadley Arrives in Splendor and Excitement!!!

Remember the quilt I made for my sisters baby that she was expecting at the end of February?

Blogged HERE

Well, Hadley showed up Monday via emergency c-section!  DRAMA!!!

She weighed 4 lbs 1 oz and was 16" long :)

It is truly a miracle that she is here and all is well.  My sweet sister was having a horrible time with pre-eclampsia and was on strict bed rest.  Sunday she was not feeling well and her blood pressure was going WAY low and way high.  My brother in law took her in to the hospital.  The doctor didn't quite know what was going on, THANK HEAVENS, he kept her in.  (My sisters blood pressure is always WAY high).  Through the night the baby's heart rate kept dropping with no apparent reason, but recovering strongly.  By the morning it was occurring more frequently.  The specialist determined that it was time to go in and rescue baby Hadley.  They soon discovered that the placenta was detaching.  If they had not been in the hospital, the issues with the placenta would not have been discovered and we would have lost Hadley.

Hadley is a strong feisty baby :)  She is breathing room air on her own :)  She can maintain her own body temperature too :)  She even opened her eyes when we were talking to her Monday afternoon. (she did not like the flash on my camera) ....a nicu nurse promptly informed me that I should not use a flash :(

Wonderful blessings and miracles abound!
