Super Mario Bros is FINISHED!!!

Konda finished the quilting and dropped off the quilt last week, but my hubby was around so I couldn't bind it :(  ...until Monday :)

She actually had to slyly sneak it into house so he wouldn't see it. ;D

I made the binding last week.

Isn't it cute all rolled up?

Get ready...

Ta-Da!!!

Unfortunately my quilt model is short... and does not have super uber freaky long arms ;)

The back is grey minky with a bit of stripe along the edge to make up the width for the back.

For the quilting, Konda did an AWESOME Starwars design that she created!!

X-wings and Tie fighters!!!

In glow in the dark thread, no less.

My hubby is going to actually FLIP!!!

For the binding I used a Denyse Schmidt print that April picked out for me :)

I am SO happy to have this one checked of my list :D

Topped AND Topped!

It's a two-fer!!!

First off, I put together the Super Mario Bros. quit top!!!!  Whoop Whoop!!!!

I also pieced the back and will give them both to Konda for quilting Thursday night :)
(I am SO happy!!!)

I also finished a quilt top for Emily Wednesday night.

I have had this top cut out for a while, but pretty much had forgotten all about it :\

It's one of Emily's patterns called "Fine Print"

If these fabrics look familiar, it's because I used some of the scraps from it for my Weekender bag :)

Tonight I plan on cutting out my sons birthday quilt :)

Always something to do :)

The Heavens Part and the Angels Sing

The blocks for the Mario Bros. Quilt Along are FINISHED!!!!

I am SO happy, in case you can't tell!!!

Tuesday I was able to finish THREE blocks.  One had already been started, but two were from scratch!!!

(it turns out that I can sew faster and with less mistakes when I don't have 3 fabulous friends to chat with as I sew ;)

YEE HAW!!!!

Here are the pictures :)

And here they are all together :)

Now for the sashing and posts and off to Konda for quilting!!

Hallelujah!!!

Just Keep Sewing.... (you know, like Dory)

People ask me all of the time how I get so much done.  Well, here is the truth of the matter, I HATE HAVING THINGS ON MY TO-DO LIST!!!  For YEARS, I have had my Christmas ALL finished before Thanksgiving so I can enjoy the WHOLE holiday season without stress.

Why?  Well, I REALLY hate shopping, to tell you the truth ;D  ...but seriously, here is how I see it.  When there is something that needs to be done, it requires the same amount of work to accomplish it whether you do it now or later.  If it is done last minute, there is a TON of additional stress that is not there if the chore is finished earlier.  So WHY ON EARTH would I put things off until last minute if there is another, more sane and peaceful way to do it???

Now, I know that there are often times when we just can't help that things are last minute.  I get that.  It happens to me.  When this does happen, I break out my CHOP CHOP action and start cutting stuff out.  If it can possibly go by the wayside, the chore is given the BOOT!!  Maybe I just have such a bad reaction to stress that I have needed to adapt and learn how to do this, but I have to say, I am MUCH happier for learning this skill :)  Enough rambling :)

Here is what I sewed on Monday :)

..and half of the "?" block :)  Two and a half more blocks to go!!!
Angela's QAL ROCKS!

I had to stop with the Mario stuff because my hubby came home and I really wanted to watch The Amazing Spiderman with my family!!!  ....so I hand bound my friends DARLING baby quilt.

Brittany made this quilt and it is SPECTACULAR!!!!  She had a baby last week just couldn't get the binding sewn on :\

She paper pieced the dragon flies :)

They are three dimensional!!!

Brittany did a BEAUTIFUL job!!!

Weekend Update

Thursday, Friday and Saturday turned into consecutive sew days with Annette, April and Konda :)  SUPER FUN!!!  We dubbed it our Quilt Retreat "where we can sleep in our own beds and eat home baked cinnamon rolls and drink milk from goblets" retreat ;)

The HOT cinnamon and raspberry rolls :D
We had the BEST time!  I was able to get a TON of sewing done with the best friends around :)

I made one Mario QAL block each day :)

All together, these blocks are finished :)

I was able to get Kate's quilt top finished :)

I also sewed the binding on a quilt that I am binding for a friend.  I will hand stitch it down tonight while we watch Spiderman :)  FUN!

Last night we went and saw Skyfall.  I really liked it :)  I admittedly have a SERIOUS crush on Daniel Craig.

I am off to fold laundry and bind that quilt :)  Happy weekend!!!

Mushroom Anyone?

Thursday, April and I started our "two day" sew day mini retreat :)  Many of our friends are up in Park City, Utah for the Utah County Quilt Guild Fall Retreat.  Neither of us could go, so we are improvising :)  I set up a table adjacent to my sewing table and we are sewing like mad women :)  Friday our good buddy, Annette, will be joining us.  Konda may come too for a bit on Friday. WHOOPIE!!!

We started our sew day, as any good sewing crazed women would, with a field trip to JoAnn's :)  We had a bunch of 60% off coupons that needed using :D

We grabbed some $1 menu lunch and then put the pedal to the metal and sewed up a storm!

I am sure that ONE block does not seem like I sewed much, but SERIOUSLY, these blocks take a bit of time.  I am SO happy to be half way finished with the blocks for this quilt :)

More Mario Progress....

Shy Guy all long!

Shy Guy half way sewn.

Shy Guy complete :D

Turtle Shell on the way.

Half Shell

Turtle shell finished :)

Did you know that Turtle Shells are a leading cause of car crashes?

I am trying to sew these when he is not home.  This is proving to be difficult with him being unemployed and all.  I am having to be REALLY sly and tricky!  I had to toss the half way sewn turtle shell under the sewing table when he surprised me by coming home early and QUIETLY!!!  I need to install bells on the doors ;D

Five down, 7 to go.  Thursday and Friday, April and Annette are coming over for sew days :)  Hopefully all of the girls in the house will scare off my hubby ;D
