Cherry Cherry Picnic is FinisheD!

I finished this quilt Saturday night about 11:30pm.  On Sunday I gave the quilt to my mom for Easter.  She LOVED it.  I was so happy she liked it.  Here are the pics :)  These were taken Sunday morning as the sun was rising.  Isn't spring AWESOME for picture taking?

The back of the quilt.  It's hard to see the quilting.
 Post washing pics.

Here are some super cool pictures from Texas of the Dresden Plate messenger bag-

...and finally some pictures of my nephew with Star's of the Barnyard...
I'm so glad he liked it :)

The Barnyard's are DONE! :D

It was a VERY busy sewing day :)  I like it that way!  First I sewed the binding on the Stars of the Barnyard quilt and then finished it off by hand.  I really like the hand sewing part!

Up in the tree with the blossoms :)

So, the upside down Little Tikes picnic table in all of my pics is starting to crack me up ;)

Stars in the Barnyard is just relaxing on the porch ;D

Once I got this baby done, I started on the Baby Barnyard quilt.  The Baby Barnyard is made from scraps from the Stars of the Barnyard quilt...even the back.  I made 1.5" red gingham sashing and a 3" border, also in gingham.  I did have to make the two little blocks on either side of the animal block in the center.  They were a bit more difficult than I thought they would be :p  In keeping with my frugal goal, I went totally scrappy for the binding.  There were two fabrics from the Stars of the barnyard that I did not use in the Stars of the Barnyard quilt that I used here in the Baby Barnyard.  They were too girly for the little boy for whome the Stars of the Barnyard is for.  Here is the photo shoot.

So here is what is left for the week.....

For the rest of the week I have got a bunch to do....
#1 Bind the Stars of the Barnyard!
I quilted this yesterday and now it needs binding TODAY!!! ;D  It's got to be ready to head to Seattle tomorrow.

You can see my  name upside down and backwards in the minky

#2 I've got to get the Baby Barnyard quilt done before my cousins baby shower Friday night.  It shouldn't be a problem.
I consulted with Becky at Morganson's yesterday and decided to do small red gingham sashing in between the blocks and have a red gingham out side border with brown dot binding.  I've got brown minky for the back.  I may need to piece the back with a little blue barnyard animals ;)

#3 the Zig Zag tote from the Zakka Style Sew along for my sons teachers birthday on Friday.

#4 Finish cutting out the Retro Flower quilt!

#5 Get the Cherry Cherry Picnic QUILTED!!!  I've got the back, now I just need the time :)  I think I can fit it in...

Thanks to Freshly Pieced for helping me get organized :)

A Little Here... A Little There....

Yesterday, I dropped my sewing machine off to be repaired so this morning I was machineless :(  I had a dr. appointment at 9am.  It looks like there is a good chance I will be able to run again :)  More physical therapy :p  ..but running again will be a great gift.  Any hoots, when I got home I started cutting out my Retro Flower quilt.

I didn't get very far before Dan, the service guy called to say my machine is finished and good to go!  There was a thread jammed in my tension thingy but that was it.  It was in great shape other wise.  I am pretty happy. His price was AWESOME and his speed was SUPER awesome!! ;)  When I got home we ate speed lunch and then headed off to kindergarten for a great time!!!  After all of the kindergarten fun, I got to sew a while on the Dresden plate messenger bag for my 17 year old.  I got most of it finished.  I just need to do the strap and then assemble it.  I have one more bag to make in the morning and then the Easter bags are all finished :) ...no pics so the girls accidentally see their Easter presents :)
Once the troops started arriving after school set them free, I basted the Stars of the Barnyard quilt and started quilting it.  I decided to use an embroidery thread I bought at creative sewing.  I would have liked to quilted more, but I am super tired and my back is not feeling great.  I figured that it would be best to relax and go to bed verses doing some bad quilting ;)
