Going Green

Because of the new laws in California regarding plastic grocery sacks, I thought it might be fun to make a reusable grocery sac :)

It was one of my quilty friends birthdays right before Christmas, so I made this one for her.

It came together really quickly and I think it will work nicely :)

I have a sister in law who always uses reusable grocery bags.
I need to make her a few so she can give me pointers.

(I'm thinking of opening an etsy shop selling these ;)  Any pointers??)

More of Karen's Quilts

The binding is on these three custom quilts.

I did the same backing and binding for each of these quilts.

The fabric for the labels will arrive on Thursday so I can get these to the customer.

I am so happy to get these finished :-)

Merry Christmas!

Caterpillar Love

Another quilt top is off to the quilter ;-)

I'm super excited to have this one finished!

Customer Quilts

I have two more tops ready to be quilted for a customer order :-)

(Because of the crazy grandbaby business, I am sending them out to be quilted)

These are made from Karen's shirts. Karen is my friends mother who passed away a few years ago from Multiple Meyaloma.

I have already made a quilt for Karen's husband and one for her son.

These two are for her daughters and one more is nearly complete for her other daughter, Chrisann, who is my good friend.

I just love the sweet sentiment behind each one.

The tops measure 54x72

The Grand Babies Have Arrived!

This past week both of my daughters went into labor and had their darling babies.

The first on the scene was Baby Olivia.

She arrived weighing in at 7 lbs 12 oz and 21" long.

She is absolutely perfect and has stollen all of our hearts!!

She even has found her thumb :-)

She loves her mama :-)

A few days later came Baby Bennett

This little man weighed in at NINE lbs SIX oz! ...and 20.5"

He is GIGANTIC!!!

We love his squishy rolls of chub!

Here is Olivia all decked out in her first TuTu!  Isn't she darling!

We love having these sweet angels in our family!!!

This is Olivia thinking about life ;-)

My sister in law is in town and is really enjoying loving on Big Ben :-)

We love this picture.  It really shows how different they are in size ;-)

I should return to quilting in a few weeks ;-). One of my daughters had an emergency c-section and the other had a few serious complications that make getting around a little rough :(.

I'm happy that my girls live next door to each other and not very far from me so I can help them out and love on these sweet angels!!!

Blessings abound!

Baby Bennett's Diaper Bag

Here is the diaper bag for baby Bennetts mom :-)

This was made with a conglomeration of a few collections by Joes Dewberry.

It has a back zippered pocket for extra security.

The inside is loaded with pockets for all kinds of baby stuff.

I love the colors that my daughter chose. So fun and vibrant.

My favorite is the changing pad tucked away in the flap pocket.

Here is a shot of the bag all opened up :-)

I can't wait to fill up the bag and haul my sweet grand babies around ;-)

Baby Olivia's Diaper Bag

This is the very last sewing project for the sweet grand babies that will be here in a few short weeks :-)

I made each of my daughters a diaper bag out of an old pattern that my dear friend has. She made me one just like this for my 5th child. I LOVED it!

There is tons of room for everything a mamma needs :-)

I did add a zippered pocket for the mama stuff that needs to be a little more secure ;-)

Hidden in a large pocket on the inside of the flap is a changing pad for diaper emergencies anywhere ;-)

I can't wait to give this to my daughter on Saturday :-)

There is even an "M" on the front for fun :-)

Just to start off right, a tutorial for these is coming next week :-)

For my quilty friends birthdays I have been making them covered notebooks.

The notebooks are graph paper. Perfect for every quilter ;-)

Here are my latest two.

Watch for the tutorial next week :-D

*HERE IS THE TUTORIAL!!!  Better late than never ;)

ANOTHER Sew Together Bag

A while back my sweet friend Maggie moved across country :(. We miss her so very much.

Because fabric fixes everything, I decided to make her a Sew Together Bag.

Now before you say I am so sweet,  Maggie makes the most wonderful hand knit socks.

A while back Maggie and I decided to swap her socks for one of my sew together bags ;-).

I can't wait to get Maggies bag off into the mail to her ...and for her super awesome socks to arrive, just in time for winter :-)

My (Blankie) Work Here is Finished!

It is finished!  I am all done making blankies for these sweet babies that are coming to our family in a month!

The official blankie total for each grandchild is:
Four flannel receiving blankets
One knitted blessing afghan
One double wedding ring quilt
One silky squishy softie blankie
...and a partridge in a pear tree ;-)

The final blankies may be my favorite!

Tricot on one side, minky on the other with a satin binding :-)

I used a poly batting for extra light weight fluffiness ;-)

These blankets are SO soft and squishy!  All of my kids want one now!

I got brave with Olivia's quilt and used contrasting thread. I'm so happy with the look!

Just for reference, Bennett's blankie is pale blue tricot with pale yellow minky and navy satin binding.

Olivia's blanket is regular purple with pale pink rose minky and lime green satin binding.

On my phone, this is the exact purple of the tricot.

They measure about 36"x42".

Now to make the mamas their diaper bags and the babies their Christmas stockings, then I will really be finished!

I hope old navy has their usual great pj sale so I don't have to make Christmas pj's!  ;-)
