Happy Go Lucky Messenger Bag

My daughter is going to be going to the temple for the first time this week.  In our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) it's a very exciting, very big deal :)

I decided she needed a really pretty, super cool, quilted bag to take with her. :)  I mean really, what else is a crazy quilting mom with a wedding in 2 and a half weeks supposed to do?  One more thing, of course ;D

Ash chose the fabric collection "Happy Go Lucky" :) ...and a "quilt as you go" method for the design.

"Luckily" I had a fat quarter bundle of it just itching to be made into something :)

There are tons of pockets in the messenger bag.

Inside, there is one zippered pocket and two LARGE pockets, one of them divided.

This floral pocket is just plain HUGE! :)

It is so big, that it hides this awesome little zippered pocket.

See?  Isn't it cute?

The large orange floral pocket is divided in two.

All of these pockets will come in handy.

The back side of the bag had a zippered pocket too :)

Ta da!

This is the underside of the messenger flap/cover thing :)

This is the front of the bag and pockets that hide under the flap.

See, in the big pocket, there are two smaller ones.
One for Ashley's temple recommend and the other for Family File Ordinance cards :)

I am so excited for her :)  What a fun time!

Would you like to make your own bag?  Join us for my first QAL!!!  Details HERE.

Quilt for Market

Konda asked me to piece this top for Timeless Treasures for Market.

It was made out of SUPER pastel batiks.

I can't wait to see it quilted :)

April's Round Robin

****DON'T LOOK, APRIL ....if you don't want too ;)*****

Here are some photo's from the engagement photo shoot in Ca.

April's round robin is SO cute!!!

I added the foundation pieced arrows.

I made up the pattern.

It was kinda fun :)

I had a really hard time matching up the shaft seams. :/

I just love it!

Ashley's Wedding Quilt

Don't go freaking out or anything... yes, this is going to be a real post :)

I have hijacked my daughters computer.  Hopefully she doesn't see the pics of her quilt I uploaded before I give her the quilt tomorrow at her bridal shower :)

This quilt took me longest to make so far.

I began this quilt as a bom with my church group in September 2012.

Becky Morganson designed this quilt for a Block Party at Stitches & Sew Forth.

I did deviate with the layout and I added 5 more pieced blocks.

I really wanted my setting blocks to form an Irish Chain design verses the squares that Becky had designed.

I also wanted my yellow 1" squares to be scrappy :)

For the quilting I did a cross hatch straight line with fmq borders and zig-zags around the Dresden blocks.

In the white section of the borders I went for an art deco fmq thing-ie ;D

In the outer borders I attempted feathers.  I am super happy with how they turned out :)

It is a little easier to see the quilting on the back.

I have been saving this label for a very special quilt :)

I also had to make a "real" label so I tried my hand at printing one on my printer.

It totally worked :)

This quilt ended up 119"x109".

It's HUGE!!!

I sure hope she loves it!

Now to make her "sign in" quilt for the reception.
(They are having the guest sign a quilt instead of a book)

Plans for this week?  Yep!   I hope to finish Ashley's wedding quilt, round robin borders and mail out 400 wedding invitations!  Eye carumba!
