Here is my beautiful Ashley with her finished quilt.
The hand quilting is VERY organic ;D ....organic means: "not perfect" or "not straight" or "not even stitches" or in my case, all three :)
I used a fun, slightly variegated, pearl cotton that I found on clearance at Hobby Lobby :)
The quilting shows up very sweetly on the minky back.
Ashley will be taking this to college with her.
We are going to MISS her terribly!!! :( :::.......
PS- In case you were wondering what our door sign says, here is a close up.
Ashley has been dating a few new boys and we wanted them to know that they SHOULD NOT KISS Ashley, because she has COOTIES!! :D ...we aren't sure if the sign is helping or not.. :\
funny sign! Great finish Marion!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to remember that 'cootie' sign when my 5 year old starts dating in a decade or so. Of course, her daddy will probably just sit in the living room sharpening his knives when the boys come over. lol And your daughter!!!??? Ummm, you look like you could be her older sister!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThe cootie thing is HILARIOUS...or at least we thing so :) One thing we have done is take the boy's picture and tell him that we are doing it so we have something to show the police if she doesn't come home on time ;D Our daughters are SO embarrassed by us!
DeletePS- thanks for the compliment :) I am always happy to be linked as a sister to an 18 year old. At 43, I'll take that compliment and run :)
I can't decide if that sign is brilliant or really mean! One thing is for sure: it's funny! :) Looks like she's a good sport about it.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea you have college-aged children. I wouldn't have guessed that from your photo!
Ashley is a really good sport about her very juvenile parents :) ...at least we have never gone through with the threat of following her on one of her dates :)
Delete...and by the way, THANK YOU!!! I am ALWAYS happy when people don't think I am old enough to have college aged kids :) At 43, it's a BIG compliment!
Gorgeous quilt! And I love that sign - too funny!!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt looks great and that sign is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteStopping through from Plum and June.
She's such a pretty girl and the quilt totally matches her! I love the hand quilting details, it adds so much to it. Well done again! :) WHOOP WHOOP! :)))
ReplyDeleteHa! That sign sounds like something my husband would do. He insists that he's shipping all the girls off to a nunnery in Europe before they reach dating age...
ReplyDeleteLove that gorgeous quilt, and your daughter is just as lovely!
That sign is too funny!
ReplyDeleteYou are so brave to do so much hand quilting! Wow. It turned out wonderful! Don't you hate kids growing up and leaving?!?! So rude! Tanner moves out this week, and Jared put his mission papers in this Thursday... Sniff sniff!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I have already had 2 daughters graduate from college and my youngest daughter is a senior in high school! So nice that she is taking something to college with her that was made with love from MOM!!!! She will treasure it for sure!

Fantastic job on the quilt. I absolutely love the colors. That door sign is the best thing ever! I have three daughters. Maybe in a few years I'll need a similar sign. I’m so glad you linked this up at One Creative Weekend! I love it! Hope your week is fantastic.
