Melissa's Messenger Bag & a Pincushion... BONUS!!!

So first off, let's start with the bonus finish for the week :)  I had wanted to make this pincushion for my moms birthday last week but didn't get it done :(

It is based off of the Hexagon Ring Pincushion from Jeni at In Color Order, with a few modifications :)

Here is the back.  Bright, orange and HAPPY!  I have to say that this time around, I enjoyed the hexy process a TON more :)  I think there may be more hexies in my future!

Now for the official, planned finish, may I present to you, Melissa's Messenger Bag!  My daughters other BFF is headed off to college in a week and this is her special present :)

Melissa chose these fabrics MONTHS ago when I made my daughters bag for Easter.  Better late than never...or should I say, better right before she leaves for college than never ;D

I fussy cut this cute tree and hedge hog from Aneela Hoey's Little Apples.  Little Apples was my first fabric crush :)  It pretty much ROCKS!!!  Putting Little Apples together with a Dresden plate just makes it darn near PERFECT!!! :D

Inside along the bottom there is one long divided pocket...

..and on the other side, a large square pocket.

Hopefully this bag will haul her books around with joy and efficiency ;) ...accent on the JOY!!

ps- College was SO MUCH FUN!!!  Remember?

  1. Aw, I'm so glad you enjoyed making the hexies this time! The messenger bag came out awesome! What pattern are you using for them?

    1. I modified (to an extreme degree) a tutorial I found online for a child's messenger bag. I used to make totes, so the method is all in my head ;) I've thought about doing a tutorial but I don't know if I could explain it well. Why don't you come over and I'll show you ;)
